The Pocahontas Community Concert Band will be presenting a special Christmas Concert at Zion Lutheran Church in the Sanctuary on Tuesday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m. The 35 piece band is composed of players from a nine-county area and directed by longtime Humboldt Community Chorus/Big Band drummer, Rollie Jensen. Expect an entertaining night of great music, laughter, and memories to celebrate the Christmas Season. Come early and enjoy the Preshow at 7:10 by the “Cracked Reeds” Saxophone Quartet of Judy Konecne, Cindy Johnson, Katherine Simpson and Julia Rolston. Featured vocalist will be Roger Netz of Manson on “Let There Be Peace on Earth” and an audience Sing-along. A 5-piece Dixieland Group will make an appearance. Admission is FREE, but a freewill offering will be taken to offset concert expenses. Bank Iowa will be sponsoring a Cookie and Coffee Fellowship in Zion’s Fellowship Hall following the concert. Come and enjoy the sounds of Christmas!

A furnace debate
There was a Special Congregational Meeting that happened a few weeks ago to approve spending up to $14,000 to replace two heating and AC units in the Sunday School – office area. At that meeting the possibility of replacing all five units was brought up.
Since the meeting the leadership of the congregation has secured bids for replacing all 5 units. In rough numbers the cost for replacing all the furnaces will be about $31,000. The actual figures of the bid will be distributed at the meeting itself.
Subsequently, there is a special voters meeting to discuss the furnace issue scheduled for July 12th, at 10:15 (immediately following the worship service). Please attend and give your input.
Please note that the replacing a ‘furnace’ also includes the replacing of the air conditioner compressors.
